Kevin & Zoey's Wedding at Aspen and Alston Wedding Venue | Ostrander, Ohio

If you’re searching for an Aspen and Alston wedding in Ostrander, Ohio, Kevin and Zoey’s October celebration beautifully highlights what makes this venue so unique. With sweeping open fields, a stunning oak tree anchoring the ceremony space, refined architecture, and a seamless indoor/outdoor reception layout, Aspen and Alston offers a modern, garden-inspired wedding experience just outside of Columbus.

After capturing Zoey and Kevin’s engagement session, I already knew their wedding would reflect their joyful, laid-back personalities. What I didn’t expect was just how stunning everything would be — from the way they showed up for each other to the thoughtfully curated details that created such a romantic, garden-inspired atmosphere throughout the venue.

Bridal Suite at Aspen & Alston

The bridal suite at Aspen & Alston is bright, airy, and beautifully designed with tall ceilings and an abundance of natural light. It’s the perfect space to hang dresses, style detail shots, and capture those emotional getting-ready moments with bridesmaids and moms. The soft window light pours in effortlessly, creating luminous, natural images without harsh shadows. For brides who love clean, timeless photos while getting ready, this space truly delivers.

Groom’s Suite at Aspen & Alston

The groom’s suite carries a slightly more masculine, moodier energy — which was perfect for Kevin’s getting-ready moments. While the tones feel richer and more grounded, the space still offers beautiful window light that allowed us to create polished, documentary-style portraits with depth and dimension. It felt relaxed and authentic while still looking elevated — the best of both worlds.

The Outdoor Ceremony Space at Aspen and Alston

Kevin and Zoey’s ceremony took place in Aspen and Alston’s dedicated outdoor ceremony space — set beside a breathtaking oak tree and overlooking sprawling fields.

In early October, the greenery was still vibrant while the first subtle hints of fall color began to emerge. The open landscape created a peaceful, expansive backdrop that felt elevated yet natural — perfect for couples wanting an outdoor wedding venue near Columbus with scenic views.

An Emotional First Look by the Ceremony Space

Before guests arrived, Kevin and Zoey shared their first look near the ceremony space and white reception barn.

It was emotional, intimate, and incredibly sweet.

Because they chose to see each other beforehand, we were able to:

  • Complete wedding party portraits early
  • Finish most family formal photos before the ceremony
  • Give them breathing room before guests arrived
  • Build in time for golden hour portraits

Doing the first look in this open area gave their portraits the perfect light, and that soft October glow that makes fall weddings in Ohio so magical.

A Romantic Courtyard Cocktail Hour

While the ceremony site opens up to sweeping field views, Aspen and Alston’s courtyard provides a more enclosed, garden-like atmosphere that still feels light and beautifully open.

Kevin and Zoey hosted their cocktail hour in the courtyard, and it was incredibly romantic. Guests mingled outdoors surrounded by greenery while the reception space was finalized inside.

The transition between:

  • Open-field ceremony space
  • Intimate courtyard cocktail hour
  • Indoor reception with doors opening to the patio

…is what makes Aspen and Alston such a versatile indoor/outdoor wedding venue in Central Ohio.

Champagne & White with Elevated Garden Details

Zoey’s color palette of champagne and white paired beautifully with the venue’s natural setting.

Her gown by Wtoo by Watters, purchased at La Jeune Mariee, complemented the refined garden-inspired aesthetic perfectly.

One of my favorite details? Her blue floral shoes — the sweetest, most personal “something blue.”

Florals were thoughtfully arranged using blooms from friends’ gardens and Trader Joe’s, reinforcing that organic, elevated garden feel in a meaningful way.

Indoor/Outdoor Reception at Aspen and Alston

The reception space at Aspen and Alston opens directly to the outdoors, allowing guests to move seamlessly between the indoor dance floor and the courtyard.

With 101 guests, four bridesmaids, four groomsmen, and two adorable ring bearers, the celebration felt intimate yet lively.

Their first dance to “Wondering Why” by The Red Clay Strays kicked off an evening exactly how they described it: love, pizza, and party.

Catering by Wood Fired Catering Co. added such a fun and memorable touch. For Dinner they had wood fired pizza which was amazing from Cbus wood fired catering.

Planning an Aspen and Alston Wedding in Ostrander, Ohio?

If you’re considering Aspen and Alston for your wedding, here are a few tips based on Kevin and Zoey’s day:

  • Consider a first look by the ceremony space for best mid day light.
  • Host cocktail hour in the courtyard for a romantic guest experience.
  • Plan for golden hour photos overlooking the open fields.
  • Take advantage of the indoor/outdoor reception flow.
  • Build breathing room into your timeline so the day doesn’t feel rushed.

Zoey’s biggest concern was that the day would go by too quickly — and it always does. But thoughtful planning and a venue like Aspen and Alston make it easier to stay present and truly soak it in.
